We are halfway through the 2022 Arizona Football season, and with the Wildcats needing answers on defense, the only solution is to recruit.

We are in year two of the Jedd Fisch era, and Arizona Football is still in the middle of a lengthy and challenging rebuild. Granted the Cats are 3-3 (1-2); however, they have a long ways to go.

So far, the Wildcats have made tremendous strides. From improving to three wins (so far) to bringing in the No. 25 ranked class last year, to currently having the No. 41 ranked class this year, Arizona is well on its way to turning things around.

However, as we’ve seen, Arizona still has a lot of young players, many of which are not ready to make an impact just yet, particularly on defense. So that still leaves the Cats scrambling for immediate answers on defense.

However, those answers for Arizona Football on defense will likely be in the Transfer Portal as well as at the JUCO ranks.

As we have seen so far, Arizona and Jedd Fisch are no strangers to the infamous transfer portal, as the Wildcats brought in several recruits just ahead of the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

However, with the talent still not being where it needs to be to make this an even more competitive group, it is clear Arizona will need to get more, proven, and experienced talent, and it starts by recruiting the transfer portal.

Look, it is no secret or mystery that there are not very many immediate impact players left in this recruiting class, at least not ones that are seriously considering the Wildcats anyways. So Arizona has to be smart and strategic in who they recruit.

That should in turn hopefully put this defense in a better position to succeed moving forward!
