Arizona Football DL JB Brown enters the Transfer Portal
Following a tumultuous couple of seasons with Arizona Football, senior Wildcats defensive lineman JB Brown has entered the Transfer Portal.
Despite committing to the Rich Rodriguez coaching staff, and playing for three different head coaches, it just wasn’t meant to be for Arizona Football senior defensive lineman JB Brown, as the former Long Beach Poly High School (Long Beach, CA) standout is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Making news via social media on Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Brown will be leaving the Wildcats, this just months after he had to sit out this season due to shoulder surgery.
After five seasons spent with the Wildcats, JB will finish his career with 61 tackles (37 solo), 6.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. His best season came in 2018 when he posted 30 tackles (19 solo) with 3.5 sacks. Unfortunately for JB, he could never replicate that success.
With JB Brown leaving, Arizona Football will be in search of more answers for its defense in 2023.
This season has been a bit of a tumultuous one for the Wildcats. Despite surpassing their projected win total for 2022, Arizona Football still has several glaring issues, particularly on defense.
So far this year, the Wildcats have the worst defense amongst power five teams, and there doesn’t seem to be any immediate answers to fix this group heading into 2023. That is why losing JB is a tough pill to swallow.
With his departure, Jedd Fisch and Arizona will be scrambling for more answers on defense.
As it stands, Arizona still has quite a few defensive commits for 2023 lined up, and look for this coaching staff to be aggressive at the JUCO level as well as in the transfer portal.
Either way, it should be an interesting couple of months to see how this defense shakes out for the Wildcats!
