We have officially arrived at the bye week for Arizona Football, and this week the will Wildcats focus on getting healthy and improving. One area of improvement will be its defense.

We are seven games into the 2022 season for Arizona Football and so far this year, things have been a bit up and down for the Wildcats.

As we are all aware by now, Arizona has won three games this season, which is a drastic improvement from 2021 when Arizona won just one game.

And even better is that Arizona has already surpassed its predicted win total of 2.5 games. So, when you see things through that lens, there are plenty of positives to build off of if you are the Wildcats.

However, as we have covered previously, Arizona statistically has the worst defense among Power Five conference teams which is disappointing.

Luckily, with the bye week upon us, Arizona Football has a great opportunity to try and sort some things out.

If there were ever a crucial point of the season to try and turn some things around, now it is it. Arizona enters the bye week riding a two-game losing streak, and the meat of their schedule is still ahead of them with matchups against USC, UCLA, Washington State, and Utah still looming.

This isn’t to say that Arizona will miraculously fix everything over the bye week, or that this group will suddenly become a bowl-caliber team. Quite the contrary in fact, as many of Arizona’s “fixes” on defense are not coming in until 2023.

However, perhaps SOME adjustments can be made this bye week.

The Wildcats have a great opportunity to work with more personnel and get guys reps before they return to action. Let’s just hope this staff can work some things out and get better results defensively coming out of the bye week!
