TUCSON, AZ – Returning to action for their second exhibition game, No. 19 Arizona Women’s Basketball routs CSU Los Angeles 104-46.

Returning to the hardwood for one last tuneup before their official start of the 2022-23 season, No. 19 Arizona Women’s Basketball welcomed CSU Los Angeles.

Despite losing fifth-year senior Cate Reese early due to injury, the Wildcats used a strong performance from several, key players including former ASU guard, Jade Loville who led all scorers with 26 points on 8-11 shooting, including 4-5 from three and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.

Arizona would also get great contributions off the bench as well as Helena Pueyo and Kailyn Gilbert added 15 points and 14 points respectively.

Looking primed and focused from the start, the Wildcats would dominate on both ends of the floor as Arizona Women’s Basketball cruised to the 104-46 win.

From the tip, the Wildcats were ready to roll in this one! Getting a quick bucket from Cate Reese on a put-back that gave the Cats a 2-0 lead just seconds into the game, moments later, she would, unfortunately, go down after suffering what appeared to be an upper-body injury. Reese would not return in this one.

Luckily, the Wildcats did not need her. Using a strong two-way effort, Arizona built a dominant, 24-5 lead after the first period of play.

Picking up right where they left off, the Wildcats carried that momentum into the second quarter as Arizona opened the quarter with a 12-0 run before eventually pacing themselves to a commanding, 54-13 lead at halftime.

Led by Loville and Pueyo at the half, Arizona wouldn’t let up in this one either!

Returning to action in the second half, CSULA would begin to battle a bit, but Arizona’s size and athleticism were too much as the Wildcats extended their lead from 41 to 56 as Arizona ended the quarter leading 87-31.

Looking to close things out, Arizona would hit cruise control in the fourth as they outscored the Golden Eagles 17-15 in the final period, cruising to their 58-point win.

With the victory, the Wildcats finish their exhibition slate with a perfect 2-0 record; however, now the real work begins as the season officially kicks off next Thursday when they welcome Northern Arizona to McKale Center.
