The 2022-23 Arizona Basketball season is finally here, and on Monday evening the Wildcats will kick off the start of its season with a matchup against Nicholls.
Coming in, there is a lot of intrigue surrounding the Wildcats. Arizona returns a decent contingency of talent from last year’s squad, and many will be interested in seeing how head coach Tommy Lloyd does in year two.
Once again, the Wildcats should have a competitive group, and all eyes will be on Arizona as fans get an early taste and preview of Arizona Basketball as they take on Southland Conference foe, Nicholls.
The Wildcats will undoubtedly be heavily favored in this one and should come away with the easy win here, so it’ll be hard to take too much away from this game. Nonetheless, basketball season is finally here, and Wildcat fans can collectively let out a long, sigh of relief.
Getting to Know the details with Arizona Basketball’s matchup against the Nicholls Colonels.
Team: Nicholls Colonels
Conference: Southland Conference
2021-22 Record: Nicholls finished the year with a very respectable 21-12 (11-3) record. The Colonels ended the year with a loss to No. 1 SMU in the first round of the NIT Tournament.
Head Coach: Austin Claunch enters his fifth season at Nicholls and so far, he has built a respectable program. Sporting a 74–46 (47–21) record overall, Claunch has led the Colonels to back-to-back regular season Southland Conference titles and coming into 2022-23, he should have another solid group.

My Prediction: Arizona 87 Nicholls 63 – Don’t be surprised if Nicholls makes this a game. The Colonels have some talent and are coming off a respectable year; however, I see Arizona’s size and athleticism being the difference maker as the Wildcats cruise to the dominant win!
