With Arizona Football falling to 4-7 (2-6) on the year after their 31-20 loss to Wazzu, we break down the numbers in the Wildcats’ loss.

Approaching its final week of the 2022 season and fresh off of a big win over then No. 12 UCLA, Arizona Football could not take advantage in their home game against Washington State.

Playing in front of a sparsely-populated Arizona crowd and gaining 441 yards, it ultimately wasn’t the Wildcats’ day as Arizona scored just 20 points and turned the ball over four times,

Arizona saw its postseason dreams crushed as the visiting Cougars dominated the Wildcats in their 31-20 win.

Snapping their one-game winning streak, Arizona Football now falls to 4-7 (2-6) on the season with just one game remaining.

3 – Arizona’s defense has not been good this season, but the Wildcats deserve a ton of credit for how they have played these last two weeks.

Despite giving up 24 first-half points, Arizona’s defense came up big in the second half, holding Washington State to just three offensive points.

Arizona’s defense made enough plays to keep Arizona in this one, but surprisingly it was the offense that did not hold up their end of the bargain, gaining 441 yards and scoring just 20 points.

4 – Opposite of their game against UCLA, where Arizona turned the ball over zero times, Saturday was not the Wildcats’ day as Arizona turned the ball over four times.

With all turnovers being interceptions, quarterback Jayden de Laura was rattled in the game against his former team. Multiple throws were forced, and Arizona’s offense sputtered, scoring a measly 20 points.

37 – Despite being clutch all season, wide receiver Jacob Cowing has disappeared over these last couple of weeks.

And with this week possibly being his last game as a Wildcat, head coach Jedd Fisch and Arizona need to do a better job of getting him involved and doing it early on.

2017 – It has been five years since Arizona has been to a bowl game, and with an opportunity for postseason play on the line for the Wildcats, Arizona came up short.

All that is left now is a showdown against the folks up north. Hopefully, Arizona can end the season on a high note and come away with a big victory and build toward 2023.

2016 – It is rivalry week, and in case the Wildcats need more motivation to get up for this one, look no further than this date.

It has been six years since Arizona last beat Arizona State. Sure, the Wildcats have come close a couple of times, but that is unacceptable and the Wildcats need to do everything possible to win this one, otherwise, all the positives from this season go out the window.
