After a solid 2022 season with Arizona Football, linebacker Jerry Roberts announced that he will be returning to Tucson for another year.

Well, 2022 was a good year for Arizona Football (all things considered), and despite participating in Senior Day festivities, linebacker Jerry Roberts will be returning for another season.

Making news via social media on Saturday evening, the former Bowling Green transfer surprised Wildcat fans, announcing that he will be coming back to Tucson for his third season (seventh in college).

Roberts first joined the Wildcats via the transfer portal in 2021, and since coming to Tucson his impact has been felt immensely.

And as he returns for 2022, Jerry Roberts will likely be the presumptive leader and captain of the defense next season for Arizona Football.

As we all saw, Arizona’s defense struggled quite a bit in 2022; however, one of the few bright spots was Roberts who had a huge impact in 2022.

Starting all 12 games at linebacker for the Wildcats, Jerry finished second on the team with 78 tackles. He also added with 2.5 tackles for loss, one pass deflection, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

In 2021, Jerry started in six games for the Cats accumulating 34 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks; however, his season was cut short after breaking his leg against Washington State.

Now in his third and final season in Tucson, Jerry will give it one last go with the Wildcats before moving on. And heading into 2023, he should have a huge impact. He will likely be the vocal leader of this group, and his experience will be vital in helping solidify this linebacking corps.
