LAS VEGAS, NV – Taking to the MGM Grand Garden Arena for the Las Vegas Clash, No. 10 Arizona Basketball (8-1, 1-1) picked up the big win over No. 14 Indiana.

Returning to basketball action following their win over a winless Cal team, No. 10 Arizona Basketball took to the Sin City for their marquee showdown with No. 14 Indiana in the Las Vegas Clash.

Coming in, both teams were playing well! The Hoosiers had started off the season strong, and they had several players that were going to challenge the Wildcats. And after a somewhat lackluster showing last Sunday against Cal, Arizona was going to need to play better in this one.

Luckily, the Wildcats were ready to go in this one! Shooting 49.2 percent from the field including 40 percent from three, Arizona came away with a convincing, 89-75 win.

Azuolas Tubelis had a big day, scoring 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds on 9-16 shooting. Pelle Larsson, Oumar Ballo, and Kerr Kriisa had big days as well, all scoring 16, 15, and 14 points respectively on a combined 15-30 shooting from the field.

No. 10 Arizona Basketball gained the lead early and didn’t seemingly look back, despite Indiana hanging tough for most of the game.

Despite Indiana starting the game with the 4-2 lead, Arizona’s offense finally came alive, jumping ahead 10-6 after a second-chance Layup made by Tubelis.

A quick bucket by Indiana cut it to 10-8, but that is when Arizona responded with a 17-0 run to push their lead to 27-8 with 11:13 to play in the first half.

Unfortunately, Indiana would show a bit of resiliency in this one, climbing back in and remaining competitive for much of the first half, even cutting the lead to as little as five before Arizona closed out the half on a 10-5 run to lead 46-36 at the break.

Hoping for a continued offensive barrage in the second half, Indiana would get things going early, opening the second half by outscoring Arizona 6-1 over the first 1:23 of play.

Luckily, Arizona’s skill and talent were too much for Indiana, pushing them back to as many 13 before Indiana had a response again.

Continuing to battle, the Hoosiers were able to cut Arizona’s lead to as little as three with 12:44 to play, but once again, Arizona responded, using a 15-4 run to push their lead back out to 14.

Indiana would make a push again, cutting the Wildcats’ lead to just five at 76-71, but luckily it was too little too late at that point as Arizona closed out the game by outscoring Indiana 13-4 to come away with the convincing, 89-75 win!

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 8-1 (1-1) on the season and will resume basketball action on Tuesday when they take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi in McKale Center before taking on No. 7 Tennessee next Saturday in Tucson. Tip-off for Tuesday’s game is set for 6:30 PM MST.
