DALLAS, TX – Looking to continue their winning ways, No. 20 Arizona Women’s Basketball (9-1) looked dominant in their 75-54 win over No. 18 Baylor (8-3).

Hitting the road for another marquee showdown, No. 20 Arizona Women’s Basketball had yet another tough test in their young season as they took on No. 18 Baylor.

Looking to pick up their first win against the Bears since the 1997-98 season, the Wildcats were ready to go in this one!

Antithetical to their lopsided loss to Kansas just a week before, Arizona’s offense was much more efficient in this one, shooting 47.5 percent from the field including 50.0 percent from three as Arizona came away with the dominant, 75-54 win.

Arizona’s starters had big days, scoring 63 of the teams’ 75 points; however, it was Shaina Pellington, Jade Loville, and Cate Reese that were the difference-makers here, scoring 18 points, 16 points, and 13 points on a combined 17-31 shooting while grabbing a combined 17 rebounds.

No. 20 Arizona Women’s Basketball started the game strong and propelled themselves with a strong second-half showing to come away with the huge win.

Arizona took the lead early in this one and didn’t look back! And despite battling back and forth for much of the first quarter, the Wildcats outscored the Bears 4-0 over the final 44 seconds to lead 19-16.

Bringing that momentum into the second quarter, Arizona opened the quarter on a 12-3 run, using stifling defense and transition offense to open this one up a bit. And despite Arizona pushing their lead to as many as 16, Baylor ended the half by cutting Arizona’s lead to 12.

Looking to pick up right where they left out, Arizona started the second half strong as well, continuing their offensive rhythm as they jumped out to as many as 19 in the third quarter.

A small run by Baylor would narrow the Cats’ lead but after three, Arizona still led 58-42!

Using stifling defense and continuing to attack the bucket, the Wildcats outscored the Bears for the fourth-straight quarter, pacing themselves to the eventual, 75-54 win!

With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 9-1 on the season and will resume basketball action on Wednesday when they travel to Arlington to take on UT Arlington. Tip-off for Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks is set for 2:00 PM MST.
