NBA Christmas Day action features several Former Wildcats
Christmas Day will be a busy one for avid sports fans who are taking in the day’s NBA action and following our Former Wildcats that will be playing.
In one of the best traditions in professional sports, the NBA will have a busy Christmas Day with several games being played this Sunday.
Luckily for us, sports fans who avidly follow our former Wildcats in their post-Arizona careers will be in for a treat as several ex-Cats will be partaking in the day’s events.
With that said, we look at the several former Wildcats that will be competing in the NBA this Sunday.
Active Players competing on Christmas Day:
Deandre Ayton (Phoenix Suns)
Game Info: Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets at 8:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN
Ayton is in his fifth season in the NBA, and the former Wildcat is currently averaging 17.6 points on 62.8 percent shooting with 9.5 rebounds per game. With Phoenix still enduring several injuries, look for Ayton to potentially have a big day.
Aaron Gordon (Denver Nuggets)
Game: Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets at 8:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN
Now in his ninth season in the NBA, Aaron is arguably having his best season as a pro. Currently averaging 17.1 points per game on 61 percent shooting, Gordon also is averaging 6.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
The Nuggets currently sit in first place in the Western Conference.
Zeke Nnaji (Denver Nuggets)
Game: Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets at 8:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN
Seeing a little bit of a smaller role this year, the third-year NBA veteran is averaging a respectable 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game with the first-place Nuggets.
Josh Green (Dallas Mavericks)
Game Info: L.A. Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks at 12:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN.
Also in his third season in the NBA, Green is having his best season so far as the former Wildcat is averaging 7.0 points per game on a career-high 58.3 percent field goal shooting. Josh is also averaging 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
Unfortunately, he will likely be inactive this week due to an elbow injury.
Andre Iguodala (Golden State Warriors)
Game: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors at 6 p.m. on ABC/ESPN.
Now in his 19th and final season in the NBA, Iggy has not yet played this season due to a hip injury and has not registered a single stat. However, his presence on the sideline has an impact on this team and organization.
Active Coaches competing on Christmas Day:
Steve Kerr (Golden State Warriors)
Game: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors at 6 p.m. on ABC/ESPN.
Now in his 9th season as head coach of the Warriors, the nine-time NBA Champion (five as a player) is 444-218 as a head coach and the Warriors are currently in 11th place in the Western Conference.
Golden State will have a huge challenge as they welcome the Grizzlies on Sunday at the Chase Center.
Bruce Fraser (Golden State Warriors)
Game: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Golden State Warriors at 6 p.m. on ABC/ESPN.
Also in his 9th season as a coach with the Warriors, Fraser has been a big part of building a championship organization in the Bay Area.
Damon Stoudamire (Boston Celtics)
Game: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtics at 3 p.m. on ABC/ESPN.
Entering his second season as an assistant coach in Beantown, Damon, and the Celtics will have a marquee showdown with the Milwaukee Bucks. Boston currently sits in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 23-10 record.
Quinton Crawford (Dallas Mavericks)
Game: L.A. Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks at 12:30 p.m. on ABC/ESPN.
Now 31, the former walk-on has been in coaching for some time, and after spending a few years with the Los Angeles organization, the former Wildcat will face his old employer as the Dallas Mavericks take on the LeBron-less Lakers on Christmas Day.
