TUCSON, AZ – Falling behind by as many as 12, No. 15 Arizona Women’s Basketball (13-2, 4-1) rallied to beat Oregon State (9-6, 1-3) by a 72-69 final.

Looking to rebound following their loss to Stanford, No. 15 Arizona Women’s Basketball was back in action inside the friendly confines of the McKale Center to resume Pac-12 play.

Welcoming Pac-12 foe Oregon State to town, the Beavers came out strong, especially as they led for most of the game, even building as much as a 12-point lead.

Luckily, Arizona was able to withstand a strong surge by the Beavers to escape with the hard-fought, 72-69 win.

Seeing its fair share of struggles defensively, fortunately, it was the offense that came up big, shooting a combined 43.8 percent from the field including 38.9 percent from three.

Cate Reese led the way offensively, scoring a team-high 16 points and grabbed two rebounds, meanwhile, Shaina Pellington and Kailyn Gilbert added wtih 12 points each respectively.

Even with Oregon State’s offense firing on all cylinders, No. 15 Arizona Women’s Basketball rallied from 12 points down to deliver the win.

A bit like the men’s game on Thursday evening, this one did not start in Arizona’s favor, especially as Oregon State gained the lead early on and built a 20-15 lead after the first period of play.

Unfortunately for Arizona, the Beavers continued their strong play in the second quarter as they remained in control in the first half, building as much as a 10-point lead before heading into half-time leading 38-30.

Needing to show some sort of life, the Wildcats would fall behind by as many as 12 after Oregon State started the half on a 4-0 run to make it 42-30. But luckily, Arizona’s offense finally came alive, closing out the quarter by outscoring the Beavers 19-7 to close out the quarter.

Hoping to carry that momentum into the fourth and final quarter, Arizona’s offense exploded, scoring 23 points in the fourth to outpace the Beavers and earn the eventual, 72-69 win.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 13-1 (3-1) on the season and will resume basketball action on Sunday when they take on Oregon at home. Tip-off against the Ducks on Sunday is set for 5:00 PM MST.
