Four Wildcats to be inducted into Arizona Basketball Ring of Honor
It will be a busy couple of weeks in Tucson as four former Wildcats will soon be inducted into the Arizona Basketball Ring of Honor.
Over the next several weeks when Arizona Basketball plays host to several Pac-12 opponents, there will be some other exciting festivities happening at those games.
During their games against UCLA (Jan. 21), Oregon (Feb. 2), Utah (Feb. 16), and Colorado (Feb. 18) Arizona will be inducting four former Wildcat greats into the infamous Ring of Honor.
Using strict criteria and qualifications for their inductees, Arizona will honor former Wildcats Josh Green, Zeke Nnaji, Al Fleming, and Ernie McCray.
For those in attendance, Wildcats fans will get to witness history as four former greats are put into the Ring of Honor.
Ernie McCray – Jan. 21
Technically, Ernie was already inducted into the Ring of Honor back on Feb. 27, 2021, but unfortunately, he and his family were not able to attend in person due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Taking part this Saturday when Arizona welcomes No. 5 UCLA, Ernie was a standout player for the Wildcats from 1957-60. McCray set several school records and finished his career recording 1,250 points and 800 rebounds.
Albert ‘Al’ Fleming – Feb. 2
Like McCray, Al was already inducted into the Ring of Honor back on Feb. 27, 2021, but unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, he and his family were not able to attend in person.
Still holding the school record for career double-doubles (63), Al still holds the school record for the most career rebounds with 1,190. Fleming also has 1,765 points career points which is a very impressive mark.
Josh Green – Feb. 16
A star freshman from the 2019-20 season, Josh came to Arizona with a lot of hype, and the Australian native had a heck of a career in Tucson even if it was short-lived.
Qualifying for the Ring of Honor with a Bronze Medal win at the “2020” Tokyo Olympics (completed in 2021), Green finished his career in Tucson averaging 12.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Josh is seeing a big impact currently with the Dallas Mavericks as a key reserve player.
Zeke Nnaji – Feb. 18
Also a star freshman from the 2019-20 season, Zeke was a teammate to Green and was arguably the Wildcats’ best freshman that year.
Earning a spot in the Ring of Honor for being named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2019-20, Zeke also had a heck of a career with the Wildcats, even if it was short-lived.
The Minnesota native finished his career averaging 16.1 points and 8.6 rebounds, and like Green, he has become a key role player in the NBA as he continues to make his way with the Denver Nuggets.
