Arizona Basketball climbs again in the latest AP Rankings
Climbing up to No. 6 last week, Arizona Basketball (19-3, 8-3) saw a little more movement in the AP Rankings, ascending to No. 5.
We are now past the halfway mark in the Pac-12 season, and Arizona Basketball is steadily rolling along. Shortly after falling out of the Top 10 in the AP Rankings, the Wildcats rebounded in a big way by sweeping USC and UCLA last week!
And the Wildcats continued their hot play when they returned to the hardwood to take on the Washington schools in the Pacific Northwest.
Taking part in a slugfest on Thursday night that ended in just a combined 121 points between both teams and 38.9 percent shooting, the Wildcats came away with the hard-fought, 63-58 win.
Arizona followed that up with a dominant win on Saturday afternoon then they whooped the Washington Huskies by a 95-73 final.
And after their tremendous showing last week, Arizona climbed again in the latest AP Poll that was announced on Monday afternoon, this week checking in at No. 5.
Standing firm in the Top 10 in the AP Rankings, Arizona Basketball will have to continue to play to their potential as the pressure intensifies.
Also joining Arizona from the Pac-12 Conference in the AP Top 25 was UCLA who checks in at No. 9 this week after their loss to USC. Meanwhile, Arizona State continues to plummet, and USC is on the outside looking in, receiving 0 votes this week.
So, with the Wildcats climbing up to No. 5 in the country, they will have to remain focused this week, especially as they take on Oregon and Oregon State this week at home.
The Wildcats will have to stay focused this week, especially as they look to avenge their previous loss to the Ducks, followed by a showdown with Oregon State on Saturday. Should the Wildcats take care of business this week, they will have a great opportunity to strengthen their tournament resume!
