TEMPE, AZ – Taking on rival ASU in a marquee Wednesday evening ACHA Hockey showdown, Arizona Hockey clinched their fifth-straight Cactus Cup against ASU.

Traveling all the way to the cesspool they call Tempe, Arizona Hockey found itself in enemy territory as they took on rival ASU with a chance at winning a fifth-straight Cactus Cup on the line.

Resuming ACHA action on Wednesday evening inside a sparsely packed Oceanside Arena, the Wildcats were looking to continue their dominance over ASU despite losing to the Sun Devils in Mullett Arena the week before.

And from the drop of the puck, the Wildcats were ready as the electricity washed over a raucous and rowdy crowd.

Arizona would be the first to strike in this one, scoring just minutes into the game after Josh Lusby put one right past the netminder to make it 1-0 in the first period.

Holding on to a steady 1-0 lead, the Wildcats would find the back of the net again, scoring minutes later to make it 2-0 after Jesse Lowell scored with 7:02 left in the first period.

The domination would continue for the Cats in this one as Arizona’s Brody Selman and Jaxon Mase also scored in the first to make it 4-0 Cats after one.

Despite ASU’s best attempts to come back in this one, Arizona Hockey was too much from the start as they cruised to the 5-2 win.

ASU would start to get things going early in the period, scoring on a power play to make it 4-1 with 15:38 to play in the second.

Continuing its offensive prowess, the Wildcats would put one past the keeper nearly 10 minutes later in the game to make it 5-1, Cats!

ASU would get one back in the third to make it 5-2 Cats, with 4:37 left to play in the game, but luckily for us, it was too little too late as Arizona came away with the dominant, 5-2 win!

With the victory, Arizona secured its fifth-straight Cactus Cup win!
