CLEARWATER, FL – Fresh off a huge win over No. 8 Virginia Tech, No. 10 Arizona Softball (7-3) run-ruled Indiana 10-1 in five innings!

Taking part in the final day of the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational in Florida, No. 10 Arizona Softball was back in action, fresh off a win over No. 8 Virginia Tech.

Turning to Sydney Somerndike who got the start on the bump for the Wildcats, the freshman hurler got another opportunity to showcase herself on Sunday, and despite eventually being relieved by Ali Blanchard, the Wildcat freshman was sharp!

Lasting just three innings, Sydney surrendered just two hits, holding the Hoosiers scoreless while striking out one batter as she picked up the win to improve to 1-1 on the season!

Ali would come on in relief in the fourth inning, and she continued the dominance, surrendering one run on two hits as she helped secure the win!

Luckily, Arizona’s bats came alive early in this one, plating 10 runs on 12 hits as several Wildcats got in on the offensive action to come away with the dominant, 10-1 win!

Scoring early and often, a big third inning by Arizona Softball paced the Wildcats to the dominant victory!

Jumping out to a quick lead, Arizona was first to strike in this one as the Wildcats plated two runs in the second inning when a few, well-timed hits made it 2-0.

Continuing to use its momentum, Arizona exploded for seven runs in the third inning as the Wildcats hit the tar out of the ball, as they led 9-0 after three innings.

Arizona would tack on one more in the fourth inning when a few, well-timed hits set up Ali Ashner to bring in a run to make it 10-0 in favor of the Cats!

Unfortunately, Indiana would get one run back in the fifth inning, but it was too little too late as Arizona came away with the dominant, 10-1 win!

Where does Arizona Softball go from here?

With the win, Arizona improves to 7-3 on the year and will return to action next Thursday when they take on Arkansas for the Razorback Invitational. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM MST!
