Arizona Softball prepares for Arkansas & Drake in Razorback Invitational

Progressing very quickly in the 2023 season, No. 13 Arizona Softball (7-3) returns to action against No. 7 Arkansas and Drake in the Razorback Invitational. 

Things are certainly ramping up for the Arizona Softball team as the 2023 season is quickly progressing along.

Returning to action fresh off of a solid showing at the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational the No. 13 Wildcats now turns its focus to the Razorback Invitational.

Coming in, the challenge will be a big one for Arizona as the host No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks are a talented team that is playing well. Beyond that, the Wildcats cannot overlook Drake either.

If Arizona is to do well in this invitational, it is going to need a good offensive output, as well as some dominant pitching from the bump this weekend!

With that said, here’s a look at the Wildcats’ upcoming opponents!

Teams: Arkansas Razorbacks & Drake Bulldogs

Arkansas 2023 Record: Arkansas is currently 8-2 on the year and so far, they are playing well! With wins over No. 22 Louisiana, Indiana, Baylor, and others, their two losses were to No. 7 Florida State and No. 19 Duke.

They will be tested once again as No. 13 Arizona comes to town!

Head-to-head Series vs Arkansas: Arizona leads the overall series against Arkansas by a 3-0 advantage, with games dating back to 2003.

Last Meeting: The last time these two teams met was in Arkansas in 2021 for the Super Regional where the Wildcats came away with back-to-back wins over the Razorbacks to advance.

Drake 2023 Record: Drake is currently 2-3 on the year and the Bulldogs have mostly been plagued by inconsistency. With wins over Iowa State, Drake has also lost to Omaha (twice) and South Dakota.

However, they will have a big challenge this weekend as they take on two Top 25 opponents in Arkansas and Arizona.

Head-to-head Series vs Drake: Arizona leads the overall series against Drake by a dominant 11-0 advantage, with games dating back to 2000.

Last Meeting: The last time these two teams met was in Tucson in 2019 where the Wildcats came away with a convincing 9-4 win.
