The 2023-24 Arizona Basketball may be several months away, but we take an early look at the Wildcats’ roster and their recruiting needs.

It has been several weeks since Arizona Basketball shockingly lost to 15th-seed Princeton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and at this point, I would say most avid Wildcat fans have recovered from yet another disappointing March.

And coming into this off-season, there was a strong belief we could see plenty of roster shake-ups with this group, and two weeks in, this off-season hasn’t disappointed yet.

Already, we have seen the transfers of Kerr Kriisa and Adama Bal, and there’s still a possibility we could see more roster movement in the coming weeks.

With so much attrition in the world of college athletics nowadays, we look at the roster preview and recruiting needs for Arizona Basketball in 2023-24.

Coming into the 2023-24 Arizona Basketball season, the Wildcats’ roster looks a bit bleak especially when you consider who the Wildcats are losing compared to who they have returning or are adding thus far.

And as of the moment, here are the presumed returners for next year barring anything drastic (*this list does not include Azuolas Tubelis currently)!

Guards/Wings:  Kylan Boswell, Pelle Larsson, and KJ Lewis (2023 commit)

Forwards: Filip Borovicanin and Tautvilas Tubelis

Center(s): Oumar Ballo, Henri Veesaar, and Dylan Anderson

Assuming Azuolas does not come back, this is a group with A LOT of glaring holes, and that is in on coach Tommy Lloyd for not being more aggressive on the recruiting trail to find the necessary talent to replace his losses.

And now comes the daunting challenge of competing in the all-too-competitive transfer portal for finding immediate and temporary replacements.

Early indications would show that Arizona desperately needs immediate help at the forward spot as well as at guard/wing.

And assuming that Henri and Dylan show marginal improvement and become suitable backups to Ballo this off-season, otherwise, Lloyd may need to find a serviceable big man to come off the bench as well!

Either way, this should be an exciting and intriguing off-season to follow if you are a fan of Arizona Basketball!
