The 2022-23 NBA season may be coming to a close; however, things aren’t slowing down for former Wildcat Kobi Simmons as he has signed a two-way contract.

The NBA regular season is quickly winding down, but things are just heating up for former Arizona Basketball star Kobi Simmons, as our beloved former Wildcat is getting another crack at the NBA.

Making news via social media on Tuesday afternoon, Senior Lead and NBA Insider Shams Charania announced that the former Wildcat was signed to a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets.

For those that recall, Kobi already had a brief stint in the NBA, playing 32 games during the 2017-18 season with the Memphis Grizzlies before appearing in just one game with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018-19.

Well once again, Kobi is getting another chance as he leaves behind the Greensboro Swarm!

With the NBA Season wrapping up, the Charlotte Hornets are finally going to give Kobi Simmons his opportunity to make an impact with the team.

So far this season, Gabe is proving that experience matters in this league. In his 32 games played with the Charlotte Hornets’ G-League affiliate team, he is averaging 18.2 points and 4.0 assists per game on 48 percent shooting from the field.

Granted there is no guarantee that Kobi will even get a significant amount of playing time; however, the opportunity is at least there, which is more than he can say that he’s had in quite some time.

Should all go well, he could see increased minutes in the final few games for the Hornets, and we are excited to see Kobi get his chance again!
