Adding another late piece to its roster for the 2023 season, Arizona Football has received a commitment from Michigan transfer, Taylor Upshaw.

We are still months away from the 2023 season officially kicking off, and Jedd Fisch and Arizona Football are not done recruiting as they had added yet another last-minute piece to its roster.

Just weeks after adding former Indiana defensive lineman, Sio Nofoagatoto’a. The Wildcats made more news on Thursday evening as Arizona landed another transfer this time adding former Michigan edge rusher, Taylor Upshaw.

Announcing his commitment via social media, Upshaw picked the Wildcats despite reportedly receiving interest from several other programs and originally committing to Colorado a couple of months ago. But after things did not work out in Boulder, Upshaw found himself in the transfer portal once again.

And standing a massive, 6-feet-4-inches and weighing 255 pounds, the Florida native will bring immediate depth and talent to Arizona Football.

In year two under head coach Jedd Fisch, it was clear that Arizona Football need a lot of improvement, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. And so far, the Wildcats seem dedicated to turning things around quickly.

Adding several defensive recruits for the class of 2024, Fisch and Co. have also been aggressive in the transfer portal, adding several key players for 2023 which include Georgia’s Bill Norton, Washington’s Daniel Heimuli, Cal’s Orin Patu, and Oregon’s Justin Flowe in addition to Indiana’s Sio Nofoagatoto’a.

Now joining them is Taylor, a skilled and experienced edge rusher that adds immediate size, experience, and playmaking ability that has been direly needed along Arizona’s defensive line.

Overall, he is a talented kid with the ideal size to make an immediate impact, and he should be a nice addition to Arizona’s defense. I see Taylor providing immediate depth to a group that desperately needed it!

This is a kid that could have a big impact with Arizona in 2023 as he plays with a high motor and energy that the Wildcats have sorely been missing on defense! Here is just a small preview of what we could see in Tucson this season!
