With the 2023 season still months away, Arizona Football cornerback Isaiah Rutherford has announced he will enter the Transfer Portal.

It was just a few months ago that Arizona Football cornerback Isaiah Rutherford was appearing in the annual Spring football game, but unfortunately, that will no longer be the case.

Making news via social media on Wednesday, it was announced that Isaiah will be leaving the Wildcats as he entered the all too-famous transfer portal.

The former Notre Dame transfer came to Tucson ahead of the 2021 season, and after two seasons spent with the Wildcats, Isaiah will officially be moving on.

Rutherford finishes his career at Arizona having appeared in 11 games, totaling 24 tackles (17 solo), with 2.0 tackles for loss, four pass deflections, and a fumble recovery.

Arizona Football has added several defensive players to its roster, and it seemed apparent that playing time would be dwindling for Isaiah Rutherford.

This past season was a rather fortuitous one for the Wildcats all things considered, and despite surpassing their projected win total for 2022, there is still plenty of room for improvement for the Wildcats, particularly on defense.

So far this off-season, this coaching staff has been committed to addressing the defense and improving the overall product. And while the results are to be determined, there’s no doubt that the level of talent on defense has been upgraded.

And with Ephesians Prysock and Tacario Davis likely being your starters and Arizona bringing in Cal Poly Transfer Dylan Wyatt, it seemed that that meant more competition for playing time for Isaiah.

Either way, it should be an interesting couple of months for Arizona as the Wildcats begin making their preparations for the fall season!
