Arizona’s Jordan Geist wins Outdoor Shot Put NCAA Title

AUSTIN, TX – Relying on some late-match heroics, Arizona’s Jordan Geist secured an NCAA Title in the Outdoor Shot Put event on his last throw. 

It has been a storied career for Arizona Track & Field star, Jordan Geist, and just months after securing a title at the Indoor Championships in March, Geist was back in action, this time for the NCAA Outdoor events.

Traveling to Austin to take on the best of the best track and field athletes at the collegiate level, Geist had a fairly productive day on Wednesday, finishing third in the hammer throw. He would have a chance to win the event, but unfortunately, Jordan could not hang on in the end.

Hoping to bounce back in a big way, Geist would have a bit of a break before competing in the Outdoor Shot Put event.

Relying on some last-minute heroics, Arizona’s Jordan Geist secured an Outdoor NCAA Title in the Shot Put on his final throw of the day.

When the going gets tough, the tough Bear Down, and that is exactly what Jordan Geist did.

Sitting behind Nebraska’s Max Otterdahl and needing a big throw on his final throw of the day, Geist posted an incredible 21.06m (69.09 feet) to come away with the match victory and an NCAA Tournament Event Title.

With the win, Geist wraps up a storied career at Arizona where he won a myriad of titles and garnered a ton of national recognition that includes being named the 2023 Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Year, a 4x Pac-12 Shot Put Champion, multiple All-American distinctions, a School Record Holder for the Outdoor Shot, the Outdoor Hammer Throw, and the Indoor Shot Put among many other awards.

Overall, we are very excited for Jordan and can’t wait to follow his career beyond Arizona!
