CANTON, OH – Playing in his second-straight USFL Title game, Scooby Wright and the Birmingham Stallion came away with the 28-12 win.

On Saturday evening at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, OH, former Wildcat Scooby Wright and the Birmingham Stallions took on the Pittsburgh Maulers for the league’s championship.

And for the second-straight season, Scooby has had a bit of a resurgence of sorts in his football career.

Despite short stints in the NFL, the AAF, and XFL leagues, Scooby has seemingly found his “home” in the USFL.

Granted, this year wasn’t as productive, as Scooby missed a portion of the season due to a calf injury; however, the infamous “Shark Dog” as he is so aptly named, even had his impact on the team, as the Stallions finished 8-2 on the year, with a second-straight USFL Title.

On Saturday, Scooby Wright and the Stallions continued their winning ways as the team beat the Pittsburgh Maulers to bring home the USFL title.

Fresh off a win against the New Orleans Breakers in the South Division Championship, Wright and Co. returned to action to face off against the Pittsburgh Maulers on Saturday evening for the championship round of the USFL playoffs.

In front of a decent-sized crowd in Canton, OH, the Maulers took control from the start, taking an early 3-0 lead. But luckily, the Stallions wouldn’t go quietly. Responding in a big way, Birmingham took the lead at 7-3 after quarterback Alex McGough found Davion Davis in the middle of the field to score from 42 yards out.

McGough would have a big day, finishing with 243 yards passing on 18-25 attempts with four touchdowns.

As for the defense, the Stallions would hold its own, limiting the Maulers to just 202 yards total with 12 points (all field goals). Birmingham would go on to win by a 28-12 final!

As for Scooby, he wouldn’t have much of an impact in this one; however, that wouldn’t stop him from partaking in all the post-win festivities.
