Officially kicking off the 2023-24 season, the Wildcats returned to the hardwood after a long and seemingly endless offseason.

And as the Wildcats welcomed Morgan State into town to begin its season, and usher in year three of the Tommy Lloyd era in Tucson, the Wildcats were up to the challenge

Arizona received substantial offensive contributions all over the hardwood on Monday evening as eight players finished in double-figures; however, it was sophomore point guard Kylan Boswell who led the way, scoring a team-high 18 points on 7-10 shooting (4-6 from three) as he added five rebounds and an assist.

Pelle Larsson added with 15 points on 4-5 shooting, meanwhile, newcomers Keshad Johnson and Caleb Love added with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Jumping out to a big lead early, No. 12 Arizona Basketball cruised to the comfortable, 63-point win over Morgan State.

Hoping to begin the 2023-24 season on a high note, this one would essentially be no contest from the start as the Wildcats jumped out to an early 24-10 lead over the first 6:52 to play.

Granted, Morgan State would battle early, but luckily, Arizona continued to find its offensive rhythm in the first half, as they pushed their lead from 14 to as many as 25 after Pelle connected on a breakaway lay-up to make it 49-24 in favor for the Wildcats with 3:41 to play in the first half.

Arizona would close out the first half on a 12-2 run to lead 61-26 at the break!

Leading by 35, Arizona would continue its momentum well into the second half as well! Doing things on both ends of the floor, the Wildcats would things with a 19-6 run as they led 80-31 with 14:39 to play.

The offensive dominance wouldn’t cease either as Arizona continued to put the stranglehold on Morgan State, extending its lead to as many as 63 after Filip Borovicanin converted on a putback lay-up to make it 113-50, Cats with 3:41 to play!

Arizona would ultimately hang tough in the end, winning by a 122-59 final!

With the win, the Wildcats begin its season by starting 1-0 and will resume basketball action on Friday for a big challenge against No. 2 Duke in Durham, NC. Tip-off against the Blue Devils is set for 5:00 PM MST!
