Arizona signed two linebackers and three defensive linemen in its 2025 class. With injuries decimating Arizona during the 2024 season, six of the front seven defensive starters versus Arizona State have eligibility remaining in 2025. Continuing to develop depth on the front seven is critical for Arizona in 2025 and beyond.

Defensive lineman Stanley Ta’ufo’ou is the only Arizona front seven starter without 2025 eligibility. Tre Smith and Ta’ita’i Uiagalelei tied for the Arizona lead in 2024 with 8.0 tackles for loss and give the Wildcats a good foundation up front. Arizona regressed significantly defensively in 2024 with the injuries too much to overcome.

Arizona was 110th nationally allowing 31.8 points per game and 109th with opponents averaging 413.0 total yards per game. Improving defensively is essential for Arizona to be competitive in 2025. Staying healthy should held Arizona gain continuity defensively entering the 2025 offseason.

Arizona has one edge rusher and two LBs on its roster from the 2024 class. Expect Brent Brennan and defensive coordinator Duane Akina to be active pursuing players on the front seven. The return of Taye Brown and hopefully Jacob Manu from injury will provide Arizona with an experienced and productive LB tandem.
