The University of Arizona's football program has had 30 head coaches since its first season in 1899, and the search for No. 31 is underway. Despite not being a historically great program, Arizona has had some legendary head coaches in the past like Pop McKale and Dick Tomey.

However, not every hire has been a home run, and there were three coaches that actively set the program back during their short tenures at the helm. None of the three lasted for longer than three seasons with Arizona, and the only one of them to win more than five games did it in 1979 before resigning amidst controversy.
