Arizona Football: Commit Greg Johnson leaves players in the dust

/)Four-star running Greg Johnson of Los Angeles, California verbally committed to Arizona Football on March 1, 2016, a day he will never forget.

Greg Johnson is a running back/cornerback out of Hawkins High School in Los Angeles, CA. He is 5-foot-11, and boy does he leave his defenders in the dust. He seems to burst out of the swarm of defenders towards the end zone on many occasions (looking at his Junior highlight reel).

Johnson ranks as the No. 1 overall football player in the state of California as well as in the West. The No. 2 football player in California is Nathan Tilford, who is also committed to play at Arizona.

Johnson has been offered by more than 21 schools including Alabama, Ole Miss, seven Pac-12 schools including USC, UCLA, Washington and Cal, Notre Dame and Michigan. Johnson chose Arizona early this year in March! And he is great at recruiting, he’s the Kobi Simmons of football this season. Last season it seemed to be Khalil Tate.

More from Football Recruiting

The reason Johnson chose Arizona is similar to Khalil Tate’s reason and so many other class of 2017 commits, “I feel like the coaching staff was being 100 percent honest with me,” Johnson said, “the campus feels like home to me.” Johnson was recruited by Coach Yates before Yates got to Arizona, he already had a great relationship with him. Yates wants him to play cornerback, and he also wants to return punts and kicks. Arizona new safeties coach Donté Williams led the charge, and it paid off.

Here’s what the ESPN Scouts had to say about Johnson:

"Size-Strength-SpeedIs an extremely competitive and elusive runner — just an excellent overall athlete with the ability to also get recruited highly at other skill positions and in the return game. Possesses adequate size for any skill position. Is put together well and he has good overall body strength for his size. A quick-twitched athlete with very good speed. Both quick and fast.Ball SkillsPlucks with ease. Shows quick hands and does not appear to fear working the middle of the field or making plays in traffic. Gets upfield immediately after the catch and is at his best in the open field where he can change directions and make people miss. Outstanding out of the backfield or when motioning out. Is a RB with a receiver skill-set."

Johnson looks like he is flashing a Wildcats hand sign in his Junior highlights video.

Greg Johnson leaves defenders in the dust when he is on offense, seems he will be great at making sure no one successfully gets the ball on defense too! Whatever position he plays, he is a fantastic pick up for Arizona and should draw more top rated players to the program. BearDown Greg!
