Pac-12 Women’s Soccer Week Three Recap: 9/1-9/7
By Vince Senick
Week three of the Pac-12 women’s soccer season is in the books and the conference is still the best in the nation. These ladies compiled a 14-3-5 record this past week and continued to beat, or draw, ranked opponents. There was another shake up in the rankings this week as UCLA remained one, but all other Pac-12 teams moved up, or into, the rankings. Stanford moved from four to five, California moved all the way from #21 to #15, and finally, USC moved into the rankings all the way at #19.

The goal leader for the Pac-12 conference stayed the same this week as Aly Moon, of ASU, added another goal this past weekend to stay as the top goal scorer with five. Jamie Fink, of USC, Sam Mewis, of UCLA, Jaclyn Softli of Washington, and a pair of Cal Bears, Kelly Fitzgerald and Taylor Comeau, all trial Moon with four goals. A bunch of ladies have three goals and do not trail the goal scorers by much.
As for the goalkeepers, UCLA keeper Katelyn Rowland still has yet to allow a goal this season and earned her sixth shutout, in as many games, to start the season. Stanford keeper Jane Campbell is keeping pace and has five shutouts in as many games.
The performance of the week has to go to the Woman of Troy for their performance against UC-Riverside on Friday night. USC scored eight goals, a school record, and had two players record hat tricks in the game. Quite an opening performance for your first game of the season being ranked.
It was another great week of women’s soccer and the Pac-12 is shaking up to have a very exciting conference season.
