Justine “The Mayor” Simon is a mature 6’5″ 185 pound point guard from Temecula, California where he attended high school until his junior year. Simon transferred his senior year to Brewster Academy to gain more experience before he arrives in Tucson.

Justin Simon is ranked No. 37 in ESPN’s top 100 basketball recruits and No. 2 on the 2015 ESPN Top 100 California Recruits, according to Shereen Rayan’s article. He was recruited by 18 Universities which included UCLA, USC, Washington and ASU. But he choose to become an Arizona Wildcat May 2014.

Simon’s strengthens according to an ESPN scouting report are as follows, ” Simon is a rangy point guard who has improved all aspects of his game. He pushes the ball well in the open court, has terrific vision, and his passing is special in the open court. He is an outstanding athlete who affects the game with his length, assertiveness, and IQ.”

He does have to work on his jump shot and get his mechanics down. Also he needs to improve on his point guard skills and passing without jumping, according to an ESPN scouting report. Sounds like he should take the place of T.J. McConnell very nicely but he has to compete with Parker Jackson Cartwright for the starting position.

I believe Simon will start but with Jackson Cartwright’s experience, Simon could learn a thing or two. It will be a tough decision for Coach Miller to make but I believe he will make the right decision in starting Simon at the start of the 2015 season.
