USC’s Sarkisian Delivers Drunken F-Bomb Filled Speech, Apologizes
UCS footballs Head Coach Steve Sarkisian will regret his drunken slur filled speech at the “Salute to Troy” kickoff event on Saturday for a long time and all the way through this upcoming football season.
According to LostLettermen.com staff writers, USC Footballs Head Coach Steve Sarkisian, drunk and slurring his words, proceeded to make a speech that will be in the record books. Unfortunately for Sark, this isn’t a speech he will be proud of nor did it establish him as a class act coach to be respected. If any of his players made a speech like that, they would probably be chewed out much like he has been doing this last week during Trojans football camp.
Summary of what happened as reported in the article posted on August 23, 2015:
"Sarkisian was allegedly drunk at the event, dropped F-bombs in his speech, and needed to be wrangled offstage by AD Pat Haden and former Trojans head coach John McKay. People at the event tweeted some of his more embarrassing antics"
Douger, on USCFootball.com added this comment:
"He appeared to be drunk, slurred his speech, dropped an eff bomb. No doubt, he was wasted, enough so that McKay and Haden went backstage and were seen talking to him. He didn’t come back. The program announcer and the assistants finished the program. Embarrassing."
Does this remind Wildcats fans of anything similar involving a USC coach where alcohol was also involved? What about former Arizona Wildcats basketball coach Kevin O’Niell who moved on to USC from Arizona?

March 10, 2011, as the legend has it, after he and his wife finished drinking and partying in a bar in the Marriott in the LA Live complex (think Staples Center) prior to a Pac-10 tournament game against the Arizona Wildcats, the couple bumped into prominent Arizona Wildcats booster Jeff Berkawand. Words were exchanged and it got heated. Whatever actually happened, it left O’Neill suspended for the rest of the Pac-10 tournament by USC AD Pat Haden. The Trojans lost 67-62 to the Wildcats that next day.
What will USC’s Athletic Director Pat Haden do other than chew Sark out which he already has done? It looks like absolutely nothing. What does that say you think? I think it speaks volumes, would we expect anything less with less than two weeks left until the season starts?
Sounds like a theme here for the Trojans: there’s a lot of yelling and screaming going on.
Sounds like a theme here for the Trojans: there’s a lot of yelling and screaming going on. Not only the Trojans, but the Bruin Head Coach Jim Mora has got his own media attention for chewing out his quarterback. Rich Rod seems to be sailing along this football season, the team seems to be bonding nicely and listening to him intently. I guess there’s no public yelling necessary at this point from the Wildcats camp which is comforting.
Note that I haven’t found that he pinpointed Arizona in any statement, but he ‘apparently’ did go after a number of Pac-12 teams, must not be worried about our Wildcats which is an advantage for our team. According to SportsMasher.com he went after more than just Pac-12 teams:
"Apparently Coach Sark said that Arizona State, Notre Dame and Oregon all suck before yelling “Fight The Fuck On!” before being pulled off stage by USC athletic director Pat Hayden and USC legend John McCay."
That Fireball Whiskey, if it was indeed Fireball Whiskey, will get you every time! So is there now a new hashtag for USC fans? #FTFO? Arizona fans are ahead of them as we already have a well-used #BTFD.
According to USCTrojans.com, Sark apologized officially:
"Sarkisian: “I sincerely apologize to my players and staff and to our fans for my behavior and my inappropriate language at our kickoff event Saturday night. I have a responsibility to all of them and I let them down. Pat Haden talked to me after the event about my actions and I assured him this will not happen again.”Haden: “I met with Coach Sarkisian and I expressed my disappointment in the way he represented himself and the University at our Salute To Troy event. While the details of our conversation will remain between us, I am confident he heard my message loud and clear.”"
It’s not against the rules to have a few drinks, no, but I would think it’s probably a breach in any “code of conduct” agreement made between the school and their head coach. I think it’s time for a new clause in USC coaches contracts? When I was a basketball commissioner for the local recreation basketball league, we had a code of conduct agreement that every coach had to sign, so you would think that they would’ve learned from the O’Neill event and suspension.
Then there is this hilarious news report from deep inside the USA somewhere from this young sports caster, ‘UFC Coach Sarkisian’ this is priceless:
I agree with our Fansided sister site GoJoeBruin’s sports writer Jake Merrifield:
"I want to personally thank the Trojans for providing so much entertainment over the last few years."
Yes thank you Sark! You just gave Pac-12 football teams and coaches more motivation to kick some Trojan butt!
