Head coach Rich Rodriguez told us to look out for more players in this recruiting class. He wasn’t lying, already weeks past signing day, Arizona Football adds a quarterback for 2017.

Already into the start of Spring Football, and a few weeks past National Signing Day, Arizona Football appears to be continuing to build on the 2017 class. This weekend, Georgia-native K’Hari Lane announced his commitment to the Wildcats. Bleacher Report’s Alan Kramer discovered this recruit who wasn’t getting many offers and the one’s he got were mostly from Junior Colleges. He interviewed Lane and provided an in-depth look at what makes this guy tick.

Basically, Lane was flying under the radar. Reminds us of Scooby Wright III in terms of his quiet recruitment.

More from Football Recruiting

Lane, the stand-out and pocket passing quarterback from Macon County High School (Montezuma, Georgia), comes in with a big arm, and big numbers.

Hardly recruited in SEC country, it appears Rodriguez may have found a steal in Lane. He also has a replacement for the departure of former Arizona-commit, Braxton Burmeister (now signed with Oregon). Both Burmeister and Lane were said to play in non-competitive leagues, but Lane has had to work a bit harder, holding a part-time job as a handyman while studying and playing football.

K’Hari picked Arizona, despite having an offer from Grambling State University as well. The three-star Southern quarterback committed to the Wildcats not long after receiving an offer.

Star gaze if you must, but this is a kid to be particularly excited about. For the Bulldogs, he threw for over 3,000 yards and 56 touchdowns to just two interceptions in route to winning the state championship.

He played in a talented league, facing teams like Fitzgerald and Turner County High Schools. Additionally, Georgia is a talent-rich state for football, so putting up those kinds of numbers period is impressive.

Lane will also join coaches son Rhett Rodriguez in the class of 2017 and will help bolster the position just in time for the 2017 season.

Lane will likely need to drop a little weight coming in, but that shouldn’t be too much of a worry, as the staff does a pretty great job in getting players ready for Pac-12 play.

He is a bit raw but does have talent. He possesses the ability to run when needed, but is more of a pass-first quarterback, something the Wildcats shouldn’t mind having around and rubbing off on their run-first QBs.

Just look at his film, he makes some incredible throws…

At Zona Zealots, we’re excited for the addition of Lane. He seems like quite the steal in the class, and will definitely provide depth at a much-needed position. Bear Down, Arizona!
