Three Arizona Athletics Freshmen Earn Player of the Week Honors

What a weekend it has been for Arizona Athletics! Freshmen Lauri Markkanen, Nick Quintana, and Dejah Mulipola each earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.
Arizona Athletics made a statement this weekend – don’t mess with us! Three different freshmen from three different sports earned themselves Player Of the Week honors.
Lauri Markkanen
This past week against the Washington schools, Lauri Markkanen averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds – which helped him win the Naismith Player of the Week. He has already won two Pac-12 Player of the Week honors and is also still in the running for four late season awards. Markkanen has the opportunity to add more to his collection – he may need a bigger trophy case by the end of the season!

Nick Quintana
The opening weekend for the Arizona Wildcats baseball team’s couldn’t have gone any smoother. They went 3-0 against Eastern Kentucky – bringing back that excitement to Hi-Corbett field! Also, freshman infielder Nick Quintana had an amazing opening series! He had seven hits over the three-game series, which included four doubles and six RBIs – this guy can do it all! His performance earned the Pac-12 Player of the week honor. Way to go Quintana!

Dejah Mulipola
The Arizona Wildcats Softball team are off to a perfect start this season at 11-0 and outscoring their opponents 97-10! Freshman catcher Dejah Mulipola would be one of the reasons why.
This past weekend at the Arizona Invitational, she helped the Wildcats go 6-0 with her incredible performance! Mulipola went 5-for-5, which included nine hits, two home runs (on her 19th birthday), and 14 RBIs. This fantastic performance earned her the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor. Way go to Mulipola!
