Arizona Football Quarterback Brandon Dawkins is entering his Junior year and is ready to lead the team to a winning season.

I am just going to say it, Brandon Dawkins is a joy to interview. Maybe that’s just because he is full of joy when it comes to talking about his favorite sport and team? Or he’s just always an upbeat soul?

In any case, we all had fun talking to this positive and talented athlete standing in the end zone where we want to see him most of next season, if not scoring then celebrating.

There is no doubt about it, Dawkins is sad to not have his friend Anu Solomon around, the two are still friends. “Obviously I wanted him here for the competition, the camaraderie,” said Dawkins, “To have him around with all the experience and stuff like that for the last two-and-a-half you know three years, it has been immense. He’s taught me just about everything he knows — I told him I have his back no matter what he does and I’m always there for him.”

I can imagine that it was probably difficult to get through last season with an injured and seemingly depressed starting QB. Anu told Michael Lev, ““It was depressing for me. I hate losing. Look at everywhere I’ve been, from high school, where we lost four games in four years and won state every year, to college where I was bummed that I had to redshirt the first year because I’m a competitor and I want to do things right away.” The two still hang out at home in the North Shore on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Brandon told us a funny story about the two and much much more in this post-practice endearing interview which you should NOT MISS:

There is no doubt Dawkins can run the ball. Remember he was the No. 1 rushing quarterback in the PAC-12 last season. So we had fun watching Brandon run the ball up the field and into the end zone during spring practice.

When it comes to passing, even when he and Khalil Tate had time, it seemed a lot like last season, they didn’t feel confident enough to pass the ball, maybe because of coverage, so they took off running. And that’s darn fun to watch! Coach Rich Rodriguez reminds us this just Spring Practice and only practice No. 7, they will have a Spring Game this year at the end of March.

We like your style, Brandon. Bear Down, and let’s win more games next season, 13-O!
