Another Day, Another Commit for the Arizona Football team
Another day, another commit to the 2018 recruiting class for the Arizona Football team, this time for a local junior college player!
On Monday the Arizona Football team added their 15th player to the class of 2018, when Haki Woods, Jr. made his announcement, committing to become a Wildcat.
Woods who originally hails from South Bend, IN, is currently a standout defensive back at Pima Community College, located just a few miles from campus. Before that, he was playing at Indiana State University, until he ultimately ended up at Pima in Tucson.

Standing at 6-feet-3 inches and roughly 190 pounds, Woods, has a great opportunity coming in, with the Wildcats always seemingly in need of defensive talent. While at Pima this season, Woods has 32 tackles (24 solo) through six games, to go along with one tackle for a loss, four pass break-ups, and two blocked kicks.
He’s very active defensively, and his size certainly makes him coveted in the Wildcats’ secondary moving forward.
While the commitment isn’t surprising, perhaps the timing of the announcement is, as it comes a bit earlier than anticipated. Apparently Woods, was already committed here two years ago, but is now making it official.
With Arizona currently riding a two-game winning streak, the momentum seems to definitely be picking-up for the Cats, as Woods also becomes the third commit in the last few days for the Wildcats.
His announcement came via social media, and he should be a nice pick-up for Arizona.
While he projects as safety, it is worth noting he currently plays corner for the Aztecs. Personally, I hope he’s allowed to stay there, as Arizona could use big, physical corners against the pass-heavy Pac-12.
Just by looking at his film, Woods has good play making ability, and plays with a bit of aggressiveness, which will be good for Arizona!
Being that he’s a junior college player, there is definitely potential that Woods could come in a semester early too, which would be advantageous for him. After all, it seemed to work for current defensive standout, Tony Fields II, as he too came to Arizona a semester early.
