The now-famous Arizona Football quarterback Khalil Tate is turning heads. Zona Zealots met Tate back in 2015 and have documented his journey ever since.

More from Arizona Wildcats

Since quarterback Khalil Tate’s junior year in high school, he has known what he wanted to do, and he set out to do it, told us he would do it, and keeps doing it. What is it? It is the sky’s the limit in his football career.

Tate wants to be a legendary NFL quarterback, and he is in charge of his own destiny. No one knows that better than Tate. Every step he takes is calculated. He has the utmost confidence in his abilities. He has the skill to play the sport of football at its highest level and on its biggest stage. What he doesn’t have in skill or knowledge, he works to attain.

We thought this would be a great time to enlighten Wildcats fans on their exciting quarterback who is grabbing all the national headlines in college football by putting together a synopsis of our past posts.

When Zona Zealots learned Arizona had a committed quarterback from Serra Gardena High School, we had to find out more.

We were fortunate to get this great interview in May 2015.

Then I had the opportunity to see Tate in action in Southern California, and I was amazed, just like most of you have felt over the last three weeks.

Tate finally took his official visit, who were we to not report on it?

Tate’s NCAA football debut did not surprise Zona Zealots (2016 season debut in the Rose Bowl against UCLA). Tate scored two touchdowns in the second half after the Bruins took out Brandon Dawkins with a shot to the ribs.

After UCLA, Rich Rod had no choice but to move forward with Tate and started him against USC at home. Tate became the third youngest quarterback ever to start a game.

Over the winter break coming into 2017, Tate joined fellow Serra Football alumni to talk to young football players.

We told Tate that fans thought he was the future of Arizona Football, we got his answer.

Tate’s favorite target at Serra High School in his senior year was WR Kobe Smith. We caught up with Smith, and he told us how much he respects his former teammate.

A few weeks into the 2017 season, we called for Rich Rodriguez to start Khalil Tate at quarterback and we gave our reasons:

Then Rodriguez was forced to play Tate when Brandon Dawkins got hurt on a play during the Utah game. He put a spark into the team with his playmaking.

Finally, Tate got his chance after Dawkins was hurt on a play during the Colorado game this season. He broke records:

Legendary basketball coach Joan Bonvicini bought season tickets after seeing the young phenom kill it against Colorado.

Then Tate led his team past UCLA and Cal earning his third Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.

Here is the play that started Tate Feaver:
