For the fourth straight week, Khalil Tate and the Arizona Football team performed well again, knocking off No. 15 Washington State on homecoming!

Band wagoners, there are a few more seats available if you want to jump on! Arizona Football once again is proving doubters wrong, getting a big-time win over the ranked Cougars!

The magic continues for the Wildcats, as the team confidence is extremely high, and the program is rolling! Winners now of four straight, perhaps things are looking prime for a special season.

More from Wildcats Football

Khalil Tate once again dazzled, this time it was a bit more with his arm. Don’t get me wrong, he still put up over 140 yards rushing and a touchdown, but through the air, Tate finished 10/17 with 272 yards, two touchdowns and an INT that should have been a pass interference!

Arizona took the lead early on, driving 62 yards on the opening series of the game, before kicking a 30-yard field goal to put the Cats up 3-0. The Cougars would get the ball on the next series, going three-and-out quickly, where the Wildcats would capitalize shortly after, making it 10-0 after Tate had connected with tight end, Jamie Nunley for a 48-yard yard touchdown pass!

After getting the ball back, Washington State would again struggle to move the football, having to punt it away, however, to their luck, the Wildcats would cough up the football, giving the Cougars great field position. Just a few plays later, Falk and WSU would take advantage, pulling within three, making it 10-7 Arizona.

Later in the second quarter, Tate would connect with Shun Brown on his second passing touchdown of the night, making it 17-7. But before then, Brown would be set-up, when Tate connected on a 41-yard pass to Tony Ellison.

With ‪Luke Falk and the Cougars Down 10, WSU would again fail to find much offensive success, having to punt right back to Arizona. The opportunist Wildcats would again drive the field, settling for a 25-yard field goal from Josh Pollack.

Trailing 20-7, WSU head coach Mike Leach would make an interesting call, benching his senior QB, in favor of their back-up Tyler Hilinski, who would help jumpstart the Cougars offense. On the ensuing drive, Hilinski would lead WSU to their second offensive touchdown of the half, making it 20-14 with seconds to spare before halftime!

On the kick-off, WSU would make the mistake in kicking the ball to Tyrell Johnson (Arizona’s fastest player), who would find a seam and get the ball into Cougar territory with just one second left. That would set-up Arizona’s big-leg kicker, Lucas Havrisik for a 57-yard field goal as time expired! 23-14 Arizona!

The second half would be a bit more electric for both teams, as both programs found their rhythm. Sticking with Hilinski in the second half, Washington State and Hilinski got things going offensively, rallying the Cougars, and taking a brief lead at 27-23 following the Tate interception.

However, the decision was a bit peculiar, as Hilinski would be picked off four times in this one, perhaps none bigger than the pick-six he gave up to freshman linebacker, Colin Schooler!

The Wildcats would score one more time in the fourth quarter, ultimately sealing the win for Arizona, 58-37, and completing the upset!

With the victory, Arizona also improves to 6-2 (4-1) on the season, officially making them bowl eligible!

The gutsy performance by this team is nothing short of amazing, and the team deserves a ton of credit! One year removed from that drubbing in Pullman, and the Wildcats have breathed life back into their program!

It was a great effort all around, and Wildcat Nation should be excited about this victory! J.J. Taylor also deserves a ton of credit, as he too came up huge today, scoring two touchdowns, and rushing for over 150 yards. However, it is Tate once again stealing the show, grabbing the medias attention, and making headlines for his stellar play!

The victory certainly puts Arizona in a great position moving forward, and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds. The Wildcats will have a HUGE game against Pac-12 rival USC in Los Angeles, CA next week, which will likely be a matchup of two, Top 25 teams, and sole possession of first place in the Pac-12 South!
