As a new era in football begins in Tucson this fall, we are wondering what new options the Arizona Athletic Department will furnish for hungry fans at Arizona Stadium.

The Arizona Football Stadium and McKale Center need to keep some local flavor on their menus. In the past, El Charro and Eegee’s have been enjoyed by many at athletic events. We are not sure if El Charro is staying or going this year (sounds like a college athlete debating whether to go pro), but we doubt Eegee’s will make a return this fall. More on that later.

At Lambeau Field, Cheeseheads can enjoy Elk Stroganoff and feel right at home. In Los Angeles, Charger fans stay in touch with nature by enjoying their own version of the BLT, where the “B” stands for beets. The SoCal sandwich has roasted beets, baby arugula, grape tomato jam, and goat cheese all served on grilled pecan raisin bread. Not only do patrons enjoy the food, they help support local California farmers.

Once Arizona Athletics puts its final touches on the new menu and venue options,  it may be fun to anoint the choices with some special names. For example, how about “The Justify” for chicken strips in the waffle cone in honor of The University of Arizona’s Bob Baffert‘s second Triple Crown winner? Any specialty item containing southwestern cuisine could be named “The Baffert” since  the country’s most famous racehorse trainer was born in Nogales.

“The Gronk” would be a catchy name for the sandwich in the upper right corner of the menu tweet above. Now the name has a double meaning, the sandwich could be named after Arizona football alum Rob Gronkowski or his horse who came in second to Justify. Imagine that, the only horse who ran faster than Gronkowski at the Belmont was Justify, the Triple Crown winner. He deserves a sandwich.

Finally, the yearly elephant in the room that needs to be addressed again is Eegee’s. They were a staple at Arizona Stadium for years and suddenly they were gone. Rumors abound about why, but maybe it’s time to give them another chance, especially during those hot games in late summer and early fall.

Here’s what we got right now:

Recently, Arizona Football shared the following tweet which Arizona Athletic Director Dave Heeke retweeted:

All of the options in the photos look intriguing.  If the macaroni in the waffle cone comes to fruition, maybe the higher-ups at Arizona Stadium might want to consider stocking some disposable cups as well as provide an ice cream option.

Obviously, there is demand for the slushy drink. The new menu items can be followed up by everyone’s local refreshing treat, an Eegee. That would be Arizona Stadium’s Triple Crown winner.
