It’s almost time for Vegas Summer League play, and former Arizona Basketball Big Man Chance Comanche is ready!

Chance Comanche landed in Las Vegas today, staying in a posh hotel on the strip getting ready to play in the NBA Summer League for the Orlando Magic. Fellow Wildcat Aaron Gordon just resigned with the club for a whopping four years and $81 Million. But before The Chief made his way to the Desert, he was stirring up the dust in Compton, California playing for the NBA MVP James Harden’s LAUNFD team with Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell.

Comanche and Harrell were the leaders for the young team that included former Trojan Charles O’Bannion, and Oregon State brothers Stephen and Ethan Thompson.

LAUNFD’s record is now 6-0 after Week 5  of the famous Drew League, a pro-am league where high school stars like Josh Christenson and Kevin Porter Jr. (future Trojan) play along with College, NBA G-League, FIBA (overseas) and NBA Players.

The Drew League is special because there are also Drew League legends who play and garner a ton of attention like Frank Nitty Session, the two-time, back-to-back MVP. Players play for their city and their pride mostly, as well as being able to keep up their skills over the summer with some heavy competition.

The Drew League is NOT street ball, the teams pass the ball around, and there is a ton of exciting dunks. You never know who is going to show up, but when a Wildcat shows up to play, you know I am right there in the thick of the media.

Chance played in the Drew League last season for the Clozers, and we brought you his highlights. But after his stint in the G-League playing for the Memphis Hustle where he came on strong in the second half of the season, The Chief raised his game to an entirely new level, an NBA Level.

You can tell when he plays with Montrezl Harrell, a free agent who played his last season for the Los Angeles Clippers, that the two have a ton of chemistry on the court. They both play like it’s the championship game, they both prove they are a level above the other players.

In this game over Footprint which included Isaac Hamilton (UCLA) and Jordan Hamilton, Montrezl Harrell scored a team-high 37 points, grabbed nine rebounds and Comanche scored 24 points, snatched nine rebounds as well in addition to dishing three assists. Jordan Hamilton had himself a day scoring 43 points along with his brother Isaac who added 17. But it wasn’t enough, LAUNFD won by 10 points, 97-87.

Here are the highlights where Chance shows his versatility under the basket on offense, but he also played some mean defense as well, it’s hard to score on him for sure. The game was played in front of a packed crowd (video credit goes to In The Front Row’s Steven Dillard):

Montrezl told us that he would love to stay in Los Angeles, wouldn’t it be grand if the two of them landed on the Clippers together? Well, it would work for fans in Los Angeles anyway.
