Arizona Basketball: Wildcats in the Pros, who and where are they now?
By David Rosen
Stanley Johnson
Stanley “Stanimal” Johnson is the third Wildcat who has remained on the same team they were drafted by. Now into his four season with the Detroit Pistons, Stanley is looking to improved upon last season’s performance. His stats weren’t bad at all, but Wildcat fans know his potential and how much better of a player he can become.
This season he is averaging 8.8 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game. Johnson has played in 16 games and started in seven of them. He has scored in double-digit points in 7 appearances and is shooting 40.2% from the field.
One big factor in Johnson’s play has been his inconsistency and sometimes lack of effort. The reason why in 2016 he was called down to play one game in the G League. We all know the life of an NBA player is not always pretty, but if Johnson continues to put in that consistent effort, it will soon pay off for himself and the Pistons.
This late-game block by Johnson is an example of him perceiving through tough times and proving his worth with the Pistons organization.
He recently played against Allonzo Trier and was dubbed player of the game.
