Weeks after the release of the all Pac-12 teams, many Arizona fans are still scratching their heads over the snub of linebacker, Colin Schooler.

File it under the long list of ‘things the Pac-12 gets wrong’, comes way of the snub of Arizona linebacker, Colin Schooler from any of the all Pac-12 voting lists this past season.

For as many ups and downs as there were this past year for Arizona Football, a big silver lining was the play of Schooler.

A lightly recruited linebacker out of Mission Viejo High School in Southern California, Schooler came to Tucson with much to prove.

In his two seasons with the Wildcats so far, he has been a single, sturdy piece to an otherwise shaky Arizona defense.

Soon to be a junior, Schooler finished a remarkable sophomore campaign, leading the team in tackles with 119 (72 solo), 21.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. All Pac-12 worthy, right? Nope…

Despite the terrific season, the only thing is that Schooler had some stiff competition. In addition to Schooler, the conference also had numerous, fantastic linebackers that also had really good years.

Regardless, the ‘honorable mention’ Schooler got, should have at least been all Pac-12 second team distinction at the worst.

His stats were certainly better than USC’s Cameron Smith, Jr. and Oregon’s Troy Dye, Jr. More impressive than his 119 tackles and 21.5 tackles for loss, was that Schooler actually led the entire Pac-12 conference in QB Pressures this past season with 25!

No linebacker in this conference had pressured the opposing quarterback more than Schooler. This just goes to show the sort of heart and effort this kid has!

Still, it’s hard to believe how this conference got it so wrong! Luckily, we have Schooler next year as well, and I’m sure this will only add fuel to the fire for him, as he and the Wildcats look to rebound in 2019!
