Arizona Basketball: The Wildcats will cap off road trip to Eugene, as they look to close out the week 2-0 against the Oregon schools.

It’s a new a month and it is typically the most important month for Arizona Basketball when it comes to college basketball. Welcome to March, Wildcat fans just our Cats are heating up as they head down the home stretch.

After a thrilling victory of the Beavers on Thursday nightΒ , Sean Miller and his staff will look for a repeat performance tonight against the Ducks. Three straight wins is just what the doctored ordered after losing seven straight.

If the Cats can make it four in a row, they put themselves in a position where they might not have to play in opening round of the PAC-12 tournament. This is how the Wildcats win tonights game.

The Cats will be looking for revenge on the Ducks who beat them back in January in Tucson by a final score of 59-54. The Cats had the Ducks back on their heels in the second half, but unfortunately came up just short, as Oregon learned a lesson from the week before as they lost a heartbreaker to UCLA.

The Ducks are coming off a hot shooting night against the Sun Devils as they used a second half to remember to race past ASU to a 79-51 win. It was the junior guard Payton Pritchard who ignited the offense with his hot shooting and the ability to score at the rim, He also got a solid contribution from the freshman forward Louis King who poured in nineteen points to cap off a happy night Eugene.

The Wildcats will have to focus in on these two as they will look to do the same thing to the Wildcats on Saturday night. The guards of Arizona such as Brandon Williams, Justin Coleman will have to know where Payton Pritchard is on the floor at all times.

Knowing this will hopefully limit the amount of open shots from behind the arc. It will also help limit the chances of Payton driving the basket for the chance at layup or drive and kick out situation. Pritchard is knows how to get everyone involved as he is averaging four assists a game.

Coach Miller will also rely on solid defense from the big man down low in Chase Jeter, Ira Lee and Ryan Luther as they look to contain Louis King. They can not afford to get in foul trouble like they did Thursday night against the Beavers. The focus will be on moving their feet and anticipating the play in order to get into good defensive position.

Oh and Cats fan lets not forget about Devonaire Doutrive who will look to build off a night to remember. As he came flying in from behind the arc to tip in the ball at the last second for a huge win against the Beavers. Looks for Doutrive to earn more minutes down the stretch as he provides a major spark off the bench for the Wildcats.
