Arizona basketball received news that Class of 2020 five-star commit Jalen Johnson selected Arizona as one his Final 4 school.
Final 4! Arizona basketball received some exciting news. Class of 2020 five-star commit Jalen Johnson selected Arizona as one his Final 4 schools. The other three schools are Duke, Kentucky and Wisconsin. According to 247 Sports he is the No.3 ranked recruit overall for the class of 2020, the No.1 player in the state of Wisconsin and No.1 small forward. Wow.
Currently the Wildcats don’t have any commits for 2020, but have put out many offers to top recruits. Depending on who stays and who leaves after next season, will impact those looking to play at Arizona. Let’s be honest here. Someone of his Johnson’s caliber, will be looking for playing time. With a stacked roster, he may not see much playing time, who knows. But if players do leave or transfer, that will open up the door for him.

Johnson is listed as a small forward at 6 foot 8 and 215 pounds. Like many other players currently on the 2019-20 roster, he has the ability to play multiple positions. He has good ball handling skills, can drive and dish, shoot the ball from all over the floor and knows how to finish at the rim. Johnson’s level of athleticism will translate well to college.
As junior at Nicolet High School, he played in 24 games, averaged 19.9 points per game, 11.4 rebounds per game, 6.2 assists per game and 2.4 steals per game. Johnson also helped his team win a State Championship and was also name AP and Gatorade Player of the Year in Wisconsin!
Johnson also took part in the Nike EYBL Atlana Event for Phenom University and was part of the EYBL All-Mention team. In three games he averaged 16.3 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, 5.3 assists per game and 1.3 steals per game. Those stats say a lot as the Nike EYBL Atlanta involves a lot of top talent from all over the country competing.
As Coach Sean Miller looks to build out for the future, the addition of Johnson would be a solid foundation for the Class of 2020. At this point, it’s a matter of waiting to see what unfolds with this year’s current roster. It will ultimately come up to playing time and if Johnson feel it’s a good fit for him at Arizona. Never doubt Coach Miller and his recruiting abilities.
