The Arizona Basketball season is almost upon us and here are the keys to success.

With Arizona Basketball right around the corner its only natural that the feeling of suspense and excitement is building among coaches, players, and fans. Every team and their fan base has high hopes for what their team can accomplish. As for Arizona fans, this year the bar once again is set at a very high standard with the goal of winning the National Championship. Here are the keys to success for the 2019-20 season.

Luck. For the stars to align for the Wildcats it will take a lot of the season going as planned and maybe even a little bit of luck when it comes to March. It could be as simple as the ball bouncing off the opponent’s knee instead of one of our Wildcats. Or maybe it is a long rebound that just so happens to land in the hands of a Wildcat player.

Referees. Oh, how we love the referees. Isn’t that right Wildcat Nation? We all remember the famous game where our head coach Sean Miller stood on the sidelines yelling “He touched the ball, he touched the ball”. Let’s hope in terms of the Wildcats success this year, we do not lose a game due to poor officiating.

Recruiting class performing at a high level. The recruiting class needs to perform as expected. Going from high school basketball to college basketball is like comparing apples to oranges. With this being said, Wildcat fans need to be aware of the learning curve that might take place throughout the season.

For Wildcats basketball, there will be a learning curve for Nico Mannion and Josh Green.. Both are projected to be starters and key parts to the overall success of this team. It is well known that they are both extremely talented and can play basketball at the highest of levels but how does that compare to other collegiate athletes? We shall wait and see.

Returning players need to make an immediate impact. Chase Jeter, Ira Lee and Devonaire Doutrive need to make an immediate impact once stepping on the floor. They will be looked upon to set the tone early on in the season as the freshman gain their footing. Not only that, they will be looked to when a critical stop or basket is needed in crucial parts of the game. No doubt these returning players will have a say when that time rolls around.

Stay healthy. Finally, this goes without being said but the Wildcats need to stay healthy! We have already seen injury take away the talents that Brandon Williams brings to us this year. Another key loss would have a major impact on the Wildcats depth and success this year.

We are all very excited for Arizona Basketball to return to Tucson! We all expect the Wildcats to have a bounce-back year and provide many highlight-reel moments. As we wait for tip-off remember Wildcat fans, BearDown, and Go Cats!
