No.10 – Iowa St

Who: Iowa St

When: 11/19/2019

Where: Maui Invitational

Game stats:  Senior transfer point guard Justin Coleman led the way with  18 points and all five starters scored at least 10 points.

In the first round of the 2018-19 Maui Invitational, Arizona Basketball was looking to have a better neutral site showing from the previous season in which they went 0-3. The opening round in Maui they faced Big 12 opponent Iowa St. Winner would go on to face No.3 ranked Gonzaga.

After 20 minutes of play, the Wildcats would be down 27-36. The second half they turned things around, put up 44 points and would go on to win 71-66. Better overall shooting in the second half, from beyond the arc and in the paint led to their success.

All five starters scored in double figures, including Chase Jeter who put a double-double. He had 10 points and 12 rebounds. This victory was significant during the 2018-19 season because they only had 17 wins and not too many were over top quality non-conference opponents.
