No. 6 – Arizona & Trung Candidate run over ASU

When: November 27, 1998

Outcome: Arizona won 50-42

Where: Tucson, AZ

Beginning the year at 10-1, the Wildcats entered the 1998 game against ASU with a lot of hype and the potential to end the regular season with their best record in school history.

While the Wildcats did come up short in making the schools’ first ever Rose Bowl earlier in the year… thanks UCLA, there was still plenty to play for in this rivalry match-up. ASU was 5-5 and looking to become bowl eligible, and a win against Arizona would surely lift their spirits

From the start it was competitive as the game went back and forth in scoring for most of the game and luckily it was the Wildcats that ultimately came away with the 50-42 victory, outpacing the Sun Devils in the win.

Arizona running back Trung Candidate would shatter the school rushing record, finishing the game with 288 yards on 18 carries with three touchdowns in the win!
