With the Arizona Football recruiting class winding down, there are plenty of spots open, and one of those should be for grad transfer, Aaron Blackwell.

Things are shaping up for the Arizona Football program this off-season. After making a few staffing changes, the Wildcats have made some good hires, however the focus now turns to recruiting. With plenty of spots still open in the class of 2020, one should be used for Aaron Blackwell.

For those that haven’t heard the name, please get familiar with the name and quickly.

For starters, Blackwell is graduate transfer from the University of New Mexico, and would immediately be eligible in the class of 2020.

Originally a standout at Liberty High School in Peoria, AZ, Blackwell would have to make a path, heading to Mesa Community before finally signing with New Mexico in the class of 2017.

After virtually two solid seasons in Albuquerque, the graduate senior appeared in one game for the Lobos before deciding he wanted to pursue one more season elsewhere.

Standing an impressive 6-feet-3-inches and 298 pounds, he is exactly what Arizona needs right now.

Granted while I can’t definitely say if Arizona is actively recruiting him, or will indeed get him, however, I’d imagine if this staff is smart, he should be a serious target. After all, we just hired his position coach in Stan Eggen!

He would provide immediate size, depth and experience along a defensive line that desperately needs it, but as we’ve said, he’s had some pretty solid production thus far.

Just take a look at what he did in 20 games with the Lobos!

Additionally, the kid appears to be a complete workaholic when it comes to lifting in the gym! Arizona could surely use someone like this….

Any ways, at least we can hope the Wildcats can pick up a commitment from Aaron!

At Zona Zealots, we’re hoping the Cats can finish this recruiting class strong, and potentially getting a recruit like Aaron would be huge! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
