With weeks until the official start of the 2020 Arizona Baseball season, the Wildcats open the year ranked in the Top 25 by Baseball America!

We’re inching closer and closer to the start of the Arizona Baseball season, and as the Wildcats prepare for their upcoming year, expectations are high once again!

High expectations? I know, I know, this is a program that has had high expectations before, only to falter and fail in not making the post-season the past two years, however, head coach Jay Johnson has a talented group and brought in the infamous, Nate Yeskie to take over the coaching for pitchers.

With the roster moves made, and the addition of Yeskie, naturally expectations are high, especially considering Arizona is a rather historic program, with four National Championships won in their history, and generally have a solid group.

Having dealt with their issues on the mound over the off-season it seems like that on paper, the Cats have solved their pitching woes.

They added a few solid arms, and more importantly they added Yeskie to hopefully help solidify this staff, but also help them to make some great strides this season. After all, he’s find great results at the perennially talented, Oregon State University.

Once again, the Wildcats return quite a bit of talent especially at the plate, have hitters like; Mattew Dyer, Austin Wells and Dayton Dooney among others. The question is how will their pitching be?

Well, if you recall, we discussed this to a degree just days ago, highlighting that Arizona’s success is contingent on their pitching.

At this point, it seems like Arizona may have solved those issues, and for it, the team is ranked in the pre-season Top 25. Coming in at No. 22 on the list according to Baseball America, is our beloved Wildcats!

Certainly a great distinction, as it’s always fun seeing our Cats being recognized nationally. Now let’s just hope that the hype translates into on-field success!
