Following a terrific 2019-20 season that was abruptly cut short due to the Corona Virus, Arizona’s Aari McDonald has some unfinished business.

GOOD NEWS WILDCAT FANS, AARI MCDONALD IS COMING BACK FOR ONE MORE YEAR!

Okay, my apologies for the all caps, but this is noteworthy news worth being ecstatic for. Taking to social media on Sunday afternoon, the junior decided to forego the WNBA Draft, and return for her senior season.

A move that may be a little surprising, albeit not completely unprecedented, we talked about there being a possible chance of her returning, and if she indeed decided to do so, just what that would mean for Arizona.

In short, this news is huge! She was easily one of the best players in the country last year, and was instrumental in helping the Wildcats to their best finish in quite some time.

With her on the roster, she makes a good team a great team, and with her return, naturally you have to think the Wildcats are going to be one of the best teams in the country next season.

She has a chance to help the Wildcats get to the NCAA Tournament, and with the talent the team has coming in and returning, there’s a possibility this group could be even better next season! Sorry, Pac-12…

As it stands, Sam Thomas will also return, complimenting Cate Reese, Helena Pueyo and incoming transfer, Shaina Pellington among others!

As we said, the news broke on Sunday afternoon via social media, and we are all here for it!

She is truly a difference maker when on the court, and outside of Sabrina Ionescu, I feel she was the best player in the conference this past year. Having her back will be instrumental to Arizona’s success.

This is a move that also immensely helps head coach Adia Barnes in terms of continued success, establishing her brand as one of the best, young and upcoming coaches, and also building momentum in the program.

Big things are on the horizon in Tucson, folks!

At Zona Zealots, we’re excited to see Aari return, and can’t wait to see what our Cats can do next season as well! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
