With it having been rumored for weeks, former Wildcat Jason Terry has officially accepted the position to become the next assistant coach with Arizona Basketball.

The JET has officially landed in Tucson! As if having good momentum in recruiting happen for the Arizona Basketball program wasn’t enough, it seems like the good news keeps rolling in as Jason Terry will officially become the next assistant coach at Arizona!

It’s definitely been a busy off-season thus far and as you may recall, it was hinted weeks ago that Terry would likely become the next assistant coach at Arizona.

All but official at that point, it seemed like all we were waiting for was the hiring freeze to go sort of die down at the University, so the the hire could actually be made.

Well on Wednesday afternoon, it was officially announced via social media, that Terry will indeed become the next assistant coach at Arizona, replacing the hole left by Justin Gainey.

The Wildcat legend certainly saw plenty of success while on the court not only in Tucson, but with several NBA teams as well. Now we will see if that success can translate into coaching.

He’s already been taking steps to get into coaching, and after a very successful playing career, he became an assistant general manager of the Dallas Mavericks’ G League affiliate, the Texas Legends.

Now 42, Terry will join the collegiate coaching ranks, as he becomes the next assistant coach with the Wildcats.

I know the move will certainly be welcomed by all as the Jet was a beloved player while attending the University of Arizona. He is well-respected among coaching circles in the Pacific Northwest, and already his impact is being felt in the world of recruiting, without him actually starting.

Look no further than the offers to Washington area recruits, Paolo Banchero and Nolan Hickman!

At Zona Zealots, I know we’re all excited with the hire and can’t wait to see Jason finally return to Tucson! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
