Local running back Stevie Rocker commits to Arizona Football
In need of a bit of good news? How about Arizona Football adding another player to the class of 2021, as local running back Stevie Rocker officially commits!
It’s been a rough couple of days to be an Arizona Football, especially as we all learned that linebacker Tony Fields II would be transferring. Well luckily for us, local running back Stevie Rocker committing should at least cheer us up a little.
A standout at Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson, Ariz., the local running back took to Twitter early on Thursday evening to announce his commitment, where he has picked the Wildcats over offers from; Cal, BYU and Nevada.
Arizona Wildcats
If you may recall, I have been pretty vocal about Arizona needing to be involved in this recruitment, and they have certainly stepped up their game in a big way. Now granted I may be a bit biased here as I am Canyon Del Oro alum myself, but seeing former Dorados like Ka’Deem Carey and Jared Tevis finding success at Arizona has certainly been great to see.
For Stevie, he is a talented running back that could become a very special player. Despite running into some injury issues in his career, this is a running back that I think will help the Wildcats in a big way.
Standing an impressive 6-feet and 185 pounds, he already has good size, plus he has the perfect blend of power, speed and agility.
And at CDO, even having run into injury issues, he has amassed 1,534 yards, 13 touchdowns on 99 carries while also adding another 222 yards receiving and three touchdowns on just 10 receptions through just 16 games played.
With Arizona, he will be joining a deep and talented backfield, but competition is everything, and at the Division one level, that’s to be expected. He is also the second running back in the class of 2021 committed to Arizona, as he will also join Montrell Johnson.
With Stevie, if he can stay healthy, I feel he is going to be a special player.
He’s a big and sturdy running back that does a great job at remaining patient with the football and has good vision when running. He does a great job at staying north/south, he doesn’t shy from contact and explodes off the line of scrimmage! Just look what he’s been able to do!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited about the addition of Stevie and can’t wait to see what he can do! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
