Arizona Football linebacker Colin Schooler is getting some preseason attention after all, as he is officially named to the Wuerffel Trophy watchlist!

Days after getting snubbed in the preseason watchlist for the Butkus Award, Arizona Football linebacker Colin Schooler is at least getting some well-deserved attention still.

Making news via social media on Thursday morning, the Wuerffel Trophy preseason award watchlist came out, and our very own Colin Schooler was on the list.

Okay, so maybe not quite the preseason recognition he/we were anticipating, but nonetheless good publicity is still good publicity, especially for a good kid like Schooler.

For those that don’t know, the Wuerffel Trophy is given annually to the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. I don’t know about you, but that sounds exactly like Colin.

A good student and athlete, he has been the true embodiment of everything that is good with college athletics, and more specifically the University of Arizona and it’s Athletic Department.

For the past three years, he has not only been a standout player on the field, but a stand up representation of himself, the program and the school off the field.

With the preseason honors, he will also join players like; Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond, Michigan’s Adam Shibley and Navy’s Cameron Kinley among numerous others.

The distinction is certainly great, and it’s nice to see Arizona Football at least get some recognition. As you may recall, Gary Brightwell is already on the preseason Doak Walker Award watchlist as well!

Here’s a reminder of just how special of a player he is!
